Baseball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-10. They came up short against the New Glarus Knights, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for New Glarus, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.

For New Glarus' part, Matthew Roth made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Roth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nolan Julseth was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. New Glarus is undefeated when Julseth posts two or more runs, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Kamm Nehmer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Coming up, New Glarus will square off against Johnson Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bluejays' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Marshall will be paying especially close attention to New Glarus' contest: after New Glarus faces off against Johnson Creek, they'll take on Marshall again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
