Basketball Game Preview: Mesa Vista Trojans vs. Escalante Lobos

The Mesa Vista Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Escalante Lobos at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mesa Vista has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.

Mesa Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past McCurdy 81-60 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Escalante over Questa in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Escalante blew Questa out of the water with a 54-20 final score. The Lobos pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.

Escalante pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 47.7 points. As for Mesa Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Mesa Vista skirted past Escalante 56-54 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mesa Vista since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
