Baseball Game Preview: South Fort Myers Wolfpack vs. Cypress Lake Panthers

The South Fort Myers Wolfpack will venture away from home to square off against the Cypress Lake Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Fort Myers is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

South Fort Myers' tournament run continued when they took on Cardinal Mooney on Thursday. South Fort Myers fell 5-1 to Cardinal Mooney.

Meanwhile, Cypress Lake came into Monday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Lely by a score of 6-1 on Monday.

Evan Skaggs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Cypress Lake's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Fernando Carrasquel was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Shelby Fields also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

South Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Cypress Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.

South Fort Myers skirted past Cypress Lake 5-3 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Fort Myers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
