Volleyball Recap: Granbury Pirates vs. Azle Hornets
After flying high against Saginaw last Tuesday, Granbury came back down to earth. The Granbury Pirates fell just short of the Azle Hornets by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on October 1st.
Granbury actually scored more points across those five sets (106-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 10-25, 25-27, 25-23, 15-12.
Even though they lost, Granbury was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.
Paisley Jeter had an outrageously good game for Azle as she had 22 digs.
Granbury's loss dropped their record down to 24-20. As for Azle, their record is now 24-14.
Granbury and Azle should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Granbury (ranked 207th) will meet Brewer (ranked 633rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Azle (ranked 209th) will meet Saginaw (ranked 597th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
