Baseball Recap: Godley Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

While Godley's win against Venus wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Godley skirted past Venus 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since February 28th.

Jackson Duke looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Braxton Spohn was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Spurlock, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one double.

Godley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Venus only managed four hits.

Godley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Venus' defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Godley and Venus could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Godley (ranked 233rd) will meet Robinson (ranked 77th) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Venus will face off against Godley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 788 places (1021 vs. 233).
