Baseball Game Preview: East Union Lancers vs. Mountain House Mustangs

The East Union Lancers will square off against the Mountain House Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mountain House took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on East Union, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, East Union was able to grind out a solid victory over Sierra, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Joe Alvarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of East Union's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Heath, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. East Union is undefeated when Heath posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Kirk Simoni was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Mountain House was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They lost 13-1 to Manteca.

Mountain House saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

East Union now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mountain House, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12-1.
