If Washington was riding high fresh off their 13-2 takedown of Grace Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots fell just short of the Sherando Warriors by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Brayden Edwards was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Edwards wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Smith, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Sherando, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Coming up, Washington will square off against Morgantown at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sherando, they will head out on the road to challenge James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
