Softball Game Preview: Oak Hill Golden Eagles vs. Heritage Christian Eagles

The Oak Hill Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Heritage Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oak Hill will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

While Oak Hill's win against Southwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Golden Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Knights 4-3.

Pathie Speicher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Oak Hill's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Karsyn Wiley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits Wiley has posted over her last nine matches.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Heritage Christian's offense. They lost 10-0 to Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on Thursday.

Oak Hill pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Heritage Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Heritage Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Hill has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Heritage Christian, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Oak Hill's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.

Oak Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Heritage Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
