Basketball Recap: Jandel Figueroa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead MMI Preparatory School over Weatherly

MMI Preparatory School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 63-40 to Weatherly. MMI Preparatory School was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Weatherly apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

MMI Preparatory School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jandel Figueroa, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Figueroa a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gombeda, who posted four points.

Ian Mckeegan was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten assists for Weatherly. With that strong performance, Mckeegan is now averaging an impressive 17.2 points per game. Niko Saldukas was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

MMI Preparatory School's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Weatherly, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3.

MMI Preparatory School will host Hanover Area at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Weatherly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shenandoah Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Weatherly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
