Mountain Pointe extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 2-21. They came up short against the Notre Dame Prep Saints, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 last Wednesday.
Mountain Pointe got a good showing from Ivan Lopez, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mountain Pointe saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Parrish, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
As for Notre Dame Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Notre Dame Prep's side, Brady Meyer looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Meyer a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Layne Henry, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Aidan Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Pointe will challenge Desert Edge at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pride's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scorpions have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Notre Dame Prep, they will square off against Arizona College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
