Softball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Pine View Panthers

For the second straight game, Dixie will face off against Pine View. The Flyers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dixie has three straight wins, Pine View has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dixie hadn't beaten Pine View on the road since April 1, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Flyers were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Panthers.

Morgan Staheli made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Staheli was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chesney Robbins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Layla London was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Dixie lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Pine View, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Dixie hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Pine View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
