Football Recap: East Liverpool Piles Up the Points Against Cambridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Liverpool). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Cambridge Bobcats 34-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Potters needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

East Liverpool's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amir Baker, who rushed for 108 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Baker has become a key player for the Potters: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 0-3 otherwise. East Liverpool also got help from Meshach Harris, who showed off his sure hands for 115 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Liverpool was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to East Liverpool's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Xavier Lara and Maleek Goatley, who racked up four sacks between them.

East Liverpool moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Cambridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

East Liverpool didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-20 defeat against Brooke on the 3rd. As for Cambridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 48-0 loss against Union Local on the 3rd.
