Basketball Game Preview: Portola Tigers vs. Maxwell Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Portola Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Maxwell Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Portola's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 18 games.

On Wednesday, Portola made easy work of Williams and carried off a 64-38 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-31, which was the final score in Maxwell's tilt against Biggs on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost five in a row.

Maxwell's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Portola, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Portola was able to grind out a solid win over Maxwell in their previous meeting back in January, winning 70-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Portola since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
