            Baseball Recap: Homer Mariners vs. Petersburg Vikings        
        
		
        
        
            Homer won the last time they faced Petersburg and things went their way  on Saturday too. The Mariners blew past the Vikings 10-2. That's two games straight that the Mariners have won by  exactly eight  runs.
 Weston Marley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  tossed six innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   three  hits. What's more,  he posted two  strikeouts, the most he's  had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Preston Stanislaw, who  scored a  run and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  RBI (three).  Willem Hakala was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Homer  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Petersburg only posted  an  OBP of  .259.
Homer now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Petersburg,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 0-3.
 Coincidentally, Homer and Petersburg will both be playing Ketchikan the next time they take the field. The Mariners will head out to face the Kings at 3:00  p.m.  on Saturday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 6:00  p.m.
