Softball Recap: Normal West Victorious

Normal West proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Marengo Indians. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2021.

The team relied heavily on McKinley Pate, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Avery White was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Normal West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Marengo, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Normal West will be playing in front of their home fans against Plainfield North at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marengo, they will face off against Teutopolis at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
