Basketball Recap: Lanier Comes Up Short

Lanier lost against North Gwinnett back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lanier Longhorns were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the North Gwinnett Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Longhorns came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 251st).

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for North Gwinnett, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13.

Lanier has already played their next game (against Johns Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Gwinnett will be playing in front of their home fans against Peachtree Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Gwinnett has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
