Softball Preview: Hurricane Redskins vs. Riverside Warriors
Hurricane has won six straight games at home, while Riverside has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Redskins will host the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hurricane is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Spring Valley, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Hurricane was ranked seventh). The Redskins were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Timberwolves on Wednesday. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Hurricane got a massive performance out of Hadley Lawson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Jones, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Hurricane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Valley only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Riverside was not the first on the board last Monday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Sissonville.
Riverside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hurricane, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
