Soccer Game Preview: Montwood vs. Pebble Hills

Montwood hasn't had much luck against Pebble Hills recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Montwood Rams will challenge the Pebble Hills Spartans at 6:00 p.m.

While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Franklin who was credited with the victory on Friday. Franklin got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Montwood's two. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rams came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Cougars are ranked 201st).

Montwood will be up against a hot Pebble Hills squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Pebble Hills never let Coronado get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Friday. The Spartans' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Pebble Hills pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matches. As for Montwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Montwood came up short against Pebble Hills when the teams last played back in January, falling 2-0. Can Montwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
