Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Durant). It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 68-65 win from a begrudging Cougars squad. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since November 20, 2024.

Durant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Moore, who went 8-for-16 en route to 23 points and eight boards. Moore is becoming a predictor of the Cougars' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 3-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Niko Sosa, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Durant moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Strawberry Crest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durant won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tampa Prep at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Strawberry Crest, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brandon at 8:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
