Basketball Game Preview: Voyager Academy Vikings vs. Franklin Academy Patriots

Voyager Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Franklin Academy is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Voyager Academy Vikings will host the Franklin Academy Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, everything went Voyager Academy's way against Oxford Prep as Voyager Academy made off with a 70-46 win. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 24 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Carlos Green, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high. Darin Jones was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy didn't have too much trouble with Granville Central on Friday as they won 66-48. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Panthers are ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklin Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Voyager Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Voyager Academy beat Franklin Academy 63-51 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Voyager Academy repeat their success, or does Franklin Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
