Basketball Recap: Kolton Goins Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Oliver Springs

They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Oliver Springs Bobcats on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cumberland Gap's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kolton Goins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Goins' afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Brady Harris was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Cumberland Gap smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Oliver Springs lost, don't look at Gavin Johnson. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Jones, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Cumberland Gap has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Oliver Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
