Game recap: Nocona High School Football Team defeats Jacksboro

JACKSBORO, Texas - Tate Fenoglio ran for two touchdowns and Hayden Hill added two as well as Nocona (Texas) bested Jacksboro (Texas) 34-14 on Saturday.

The Nocona were up 13-7 at the half after taking the lead on a Fenoglio touchdown run in the first quarter.

Nocona expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Hill.

The loss snapped the Tigers' 6-game winning streak.



Kirk Weldon played well for Jacksboro. The junior quarterback ran for one touchdown.

Fenoglio played well for the Nocona in the victory. The senior running back threw one touchdown. He has now scored 20 touchdowns on the season.

JHS came in allowing just 14.0 points per game this season. The Tigers struggled against Nocona, which came in averaging 36.6 points per game. NHS went into the matchup giving up only 12.1 points per game.

The Nocona also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 35-14.

The loss comes after Jacksboro defeated Alvord 40-14 last week.

Jacksboro (7-2) will play a 2A-2 Region II District 5 game against Holliday next week, while Nocona (9-0) will take on Henrietta also in a 2A-2 Region II District 5 game.
