Baseball Recap: Botkins Find Success

Botkins's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Houston Wildcats by a score of 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in April.

Treg Meyer and Will Monnin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Meyer pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Monnin pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meyer has become a key player for Botkins: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 9-12 otherwise. At the plate, Meyer went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Monnin went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Monnin has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hudson Meyer, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Elijah Schuller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Botkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Botkins' win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Houston, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Botkins will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
