Baseball Recap: Watkins Memorial's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Watkins Memorial had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Licking Heights Hornets by a score of 5-2. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hornets, too.

Brayden Windnagel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Gray was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Trent Johnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Watkins Memorial now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Licking Heights, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Watkins Memorial is set to square off against their familiar foe Johnstown-Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Licking Heights will take on rival Utica at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
