The Timpanogos Timberwolves will head out on the road to take on the American Fork Cavemen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
On Friday, Timpanogos made easy work of Payson and carried off a 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Corbin Hardy tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Carter Hall was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Cooper Hawkes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Timpanogos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask American Fork). Everything went their way against Davis on Friday as American Fork made off with a 16-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cavemen with their most commanding win of the season.
Kenny Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, American Fork got a massive performance out of River Litke, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Litke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was CJ Mascaro, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
American Fork's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Timpanogos, their record now sits at 9-3.
Both Timpanogos and American Fork just can't seem to miss. Timpanogos has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like American Fork struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits.
