Maricopa's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Catalina Foothills Falcons 13-1. Considering the Rams have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Athena Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Darian Sophia Flores and Hailee Klutz - Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Flores scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Klutz - Phillips scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alanee Calderon, who scored two runs and stole three bases.
Maricopa now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for Catalina Foothills, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
