Recap: Canby Cougars vs. Tigard Tigers
Even though the Canby Cougars have not done well against the Tigard Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Canby sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-61 victory over Tigard. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Canby's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Lawson, who scored 17 points. Lawson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Trevin Slagle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
The victory got Canby back to even at 2-2. As for Tigard, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Canby won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Annie Wright at 12:00 p.m. on December 19th. Annie Wright will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Tigard will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glencoe at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
