Baseball Recap: Twelve Bridges Comes Up Short

Twelve Bridges had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 12-15 to make it four. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Del Campo Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-3 defeat on Wednesday.

Colton Silva was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched.

As for Del Campo, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Del Campo's side, Brody Bieneman looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bieneman is becoming a predictor of the Cougars' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 5-1-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Landen Hill and Skyler Maynor did most of the damage at the plate: Hill went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Maynor went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Young, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Twelve Bridges will square off against Casa Roble at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Raging Rhinos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Del Campo, they will face off against Center at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
