Softball Recap: New Prairie Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeshore, New Prairie was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Elkhart Lions get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

The result came thanks to Ava Geyer's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Chelminiak was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

New Prairie hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhart struck out 12 times.

New Prairie's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Elkhart, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Looking ahead, New Prairie will face off against South Bend Saint Joseph at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elkhart will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' game: after the Cougars face off against the Huskies, they'll take on Elkhart again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
