Preview: Hayfield Vikings vs. Rushford-Peterson Trojans
The Hayfield Vikings will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Rushford-Peterson Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hayfield has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Rushford-Peterson will arrive with four straight wins.
Hayfield's 22-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kenyon-Wanamingo on Friday.
Rushford-Peterson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Rochester STEM Academy 84-38 at home. With Rushford-Peterson ahead 54-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Hayfield bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Rushford-Peterson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Hayfield strolled past Rushford-Peterson in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 45-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hayfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
