Softball Game Preview: Bradford Tornadoes vs. Buchholz Bobcats

The Bradford Tornadoes will take on the Buchholz Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bradford has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bradford managed to slip by Union County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Bradford came up short against Union County two weeks ago, falling 22-16. Tornadoes fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Fightin' Tigers since two weeks ago.

Kallie Yowell and Addyson Hinds did some serious damage despite the final result: Yowell fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances, while Hinds fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Yowell a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Tayrn Flowers, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Bradford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Buchholz came up short against Bartram Trail on Friday and fell 6-1. The contest marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Buchholz saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Parker, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Bradford now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Buchholz, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Buchholz's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bradford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. It's a different story for Buchholz, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Bradford's hitters?

Bradford beat Buchholz 16-12 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Bradford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Buchholz turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
