Basketball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

Foothill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-10 loss at the hands of the West Campus Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1231st, while the Warriors are ranked 262nd).

When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, don't look at Joyce Runner. Despite the final result, she posted six points. That was a full 60% of Foothill's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Campus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Naomi Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. The matchup was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Esabel Otsuji, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for West Campus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Foothill has already played their next game, a 68-19 loss against Burbank on the 17th. As for West Campus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-36 victory against Fairfield on the 17th.
