Recap: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. North Brunswick Scorpions
The Ashley Screaming Eagle posted their biggest win since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They blew past North Brunswick 48-19 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-8.
Leading Ashley to victory were Bella Cook and MacKenzie Morton. Cook dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Morton scored 19 points along with four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Morton has scored at least a third of Ashley's points. Anna Benfield was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 11 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Brunswick struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ashley posted 11 assists.
Ashley's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for North Brunswick, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Ashley will be playing at home against Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Topsail is ranked 161st, while Ashley is ranked 168th). As for North Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against Laney at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
