Softball Game Preview: MOT Charter Mustangs vs. Delaware Military Academy Seahawks

MOT Charter hasn't had much luck against Delaware Military Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

MOT Charter is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of First State Military Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (11), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Haylee Yap stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Van Haren, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delaware Military Academy). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Archmere Academy a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Auks: they've now won nine in a row.

Delaware Military Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for MOT Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

MOT Charter might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Delaware Military Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
