Baseball Recap: Saddleback Takes a Loss

Saddleback came into this matchup off a tough 19-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Roadrunners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joaquin Cornejo put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Cornejo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Wright, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Saddleback's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Godinez Fundamental, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 4-10 record.

While Saddleback had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
