Recap: Presidio Blue Devils vs. Kermit Yellow Jackets

If the Presidio Blue Devils were riding high off their 43-23 takedown of the Tornillo Coyotes last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Presidio's rough 52-30 loss to Kermit on Friday might stick with them for a while. Presidio has not had much luck with Kermit recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Kermit found their leader in underclassman Leylani Quiroz, who scored 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Quiroz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ava Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.

Presidio has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Kermit, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-12.

Presidio will head out on the road to square off against Alpine at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alpine is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Kermit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Compass Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Compass Academy has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
