Recap: Cardinal Mooney Cardinals vs. Boardman Spartans
The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals lost against the Boardman Spartans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Cardinal Mooney took a hard 53-39 fall against Boardman. While losing is never fun, Cardinal Mooney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Boardman is ranked 53rd).
Leading Boardman to victory were Mackenzie Riccitelli and Mikayla Rivera. Riccitelli scored 11 points along with five steals, while Rivera scored 12 points along with four steals. Sarah Bero was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Cardinal Mooney's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for Boardman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Cardinal Mooney will head out on the road to challenge Poland Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Boardman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Austintown-Fitch at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Austintown-Fitch and Boardman are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
