Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Del Oro's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Del Oro had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Jesuit Marauders 10-8. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly two runs.

Brody Coxen tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

At the plate, Del Oro got a big performance out of Kael Lumbert, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave Lumbert a new career-high. Will Stark was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Jesuit, they moved to 21-10 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Del Oro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Marauders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
