Baseball Game Preview: Stranahan Mighty Dragons vs. Fort Lauderdale Flying L's

The Stranahan Mighty Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Fort Lauderdale Flying L at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Stranahan has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 25.

Stranahan came up short against Northeast on Tuesday, falling 18-9.

Derek Bernard was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Shores Boyd also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, while it was Fort Lauderdale who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Cardinal Gibbons who put up more. The Flying L's lost 11-5 to the Chiefs. The Flying L's just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Jackson Hirsch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jack Benson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Fort Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Stranahan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Stranahan suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Fort Lauderdale in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Mighty Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
