Basketball Recap: Riverton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Olympia last Tuesday, Riverton came back down to earth. The Riverton Hawks fell 55-44 to the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints on Saturday. The Hawks lost against the Saints in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 67-31 score last time.

Riverton's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-11.

Riverton and Bloomington Central Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Riverton (ranked 147th) will meet Athens (ranked 451st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Bloomington Central Catholic will square off against Prairie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 316 places (178 vs. 494).
