Stagg had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.4 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over the Tokay Tigers. The 24-point effort marked the Delta Kings' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Darnell Holmes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 214 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Stagg didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Tokay to a completion percentage of just 47.6%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Kemonnie Eskridge and Amari Lambert, who each logged three passes deflected. Stagg wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 56.2%.

When it comes to explaining why Tokay lost, don't look at Amire Fleming. Despite the final result, he rushed for 193 yards and a pair of scores. Fleming also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making 11 total tackles, and defending one pass.

Stagg's record now sits at 8-1. As for Tokay, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Stagg has already played their next matchup, a 42-0 loss against Chavez on the 30th. As for Tokay, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Weston Ranch on the 30th.
