Preview: Gering Bulldogs vs. Ogallala Indians
Gering is on a three-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Ogallala is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Gering Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Ogallala Indians on Friday. Hopefully Gering focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
Gering struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Chadron had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Gering fell just short of Chadron by a score of 44-42.
Makenzie Todd put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Brady, who scored eight points.
Even though Ogallala has not done well against St. Patrick's recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ogallala put the hurt on St. Patrick's with a sharp 40-18 win. Given Ogallala's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while St. Patrick's is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gering now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Ogallala, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Gering came up short against Ogallala in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 53-45. Will Gering have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
