Baseball Recap: South Lyon Find Success

The South Lyon Lions had just enough and edged out the Pioneer Pioneers 4-3 on Friday.

South Lyon got a great performance from Chris Mathis as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Mathis has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, South Lyon let Luke Stevens and Aiden Robinson run wild. Stevens went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Robinson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Robinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Martinkowski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

South Lyon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

South Lyon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pioneer: the pair will be back at it again later today.
