Basketball Recap: Highland Takes a Loss

Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Olympus Titans, falling 53-17. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Gurgel, who posted five points and four steals. Gurgel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.

Joss Baker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Olympus, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Baker has scored at least a third of Olympus' points. Another player making a difference was Madi Shimoda, who had eight points.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Olympus, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Brighton the next time they take the court. Highland will host Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Olympus will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
