League recap: Bell win leads to rise in state rank

Bell moved up to 419 from 470 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A District 6. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of a 45-20 win over Bishop Snyder.

Bell took down the Cardinals 45-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Ritchey ran for 158 yards in the win.

Hilliard's dynamic duo of Gunner Chaires and Brayden Carroll proved tough for Fernandina Beach to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chaires threw for 119 yards and one touchdown and Carroll had 77 yards receiving. Austin McCullough helped Hilliard's passing attack out by catching one ball for 37 yards.

Trenton's Stephen Smith and Hamp Cheevers have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 274 yards this season, while Cheevers, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has four catches for 154 yards. The Red Flashes' Josh Conner leads the league in rushing yards with 785.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hilliard takes on Adam Gore's team. Paul Whittenburg's team is currently in second, while the Bulldogs are in third.

Bell led 1A District 6 in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on Bishop Snyder. Ritchey in the win.
