Basketball Recap: Flowing Wells Starts Season with Win on the Road

Flowing Wells had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Amphitheater Panthers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 67-50. For the Caballeros, this counts as revenge for the 51-45 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Flowing Wells to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isaias Encinas, who posted 21 points and four steals. Encinas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Jordan Martinez was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Flowing Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Coming up, Flowing Wells will be taking part in a tournament against Tanque Verde at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Amphitheater, they will venture away from home to challenge Rincon/University at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
