Softball Recap: Agawam Victorious

Agawam hadn't done well against Pittsfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Brownies never let the Generals get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. This was payback for the Brownies, who suffered a 9-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alexina Lentes was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season. Payton Malanson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win got Agawam back to even at 2-2. As for Pittsfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agawam will square off against Frontier Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pittsfield, they will take on Minnechaug Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
