Baseball Recap: Dixie Heights Find Success

After losing to Scott the last time they met, Dixie Heights decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Colonels won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colonels have posted since April 27th.

Ian Meyers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Sean Mitchell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Dixie Heights is undefeated when Mitchell posts three or more hits, but 14-16 otherwise. Owen Stulz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Dixie Heights now has a winning record of 17-16. As for Scott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie Heights will square off against Archbishop Moeller at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Scott, they will challenge Boone County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
