Volleyball Recap: Sierra Vista Falls Short Against Ranked Shadow Ridge

Sierra Vista faced Shadow Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions came up short against the Mustangs, falling 3-0. The Mountain Lions haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Sierra Vista was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Sierra Vista still got an impressive performance from Christian Diaz, who had 12 digs. Jeven James also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Sierra Vista now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Shadow Ridge, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.

Sierra Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Cheyenne on the 2nd. As for Shadow Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Foothill on the 2nd.
