Basketball Recap: Jaslyn Jefferson Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Shadow Ridge's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 51-40 win over the Palo Verde Panthers. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 45-40 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Shadow Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaslyn Jefferson led the charge by putting up 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chanel Gafeney, who posted 14 points.

Palo Verde's loss came despite strong showings from Breanna Richards-Scholz and Olivia Aznarez. Richards-Scholz went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points, while Aznarez scored 13 points.

Shadow Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Palo Verde, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Shadow Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 35-34 win against Liberty on the 16th. As for Palo Verde, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 37-30 victory against Mojave on the 14th.
